The BISE Punjab 9th class result 2026 is officially out, and the numbers look terrible. Nearly 1.4 million students took the exams across all nine major boards. Unfortunately, more than half of them failed. The education system implemented a new 40% passing threshold this year. Consequently, this sudden policy change triggered a massive academic collapse.
Complete Board-by-Board Statistical Breakdown
The overall performance exposes a severely broken system. Exactly 1,397,821 students sat for the exams across the Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, DG Khan, and Sahiwal boards. Out of this massive group, only 639,953 students passed. Therefore, the overall provincial pass percentage sits at a dismal 45.78%. South Punjab and Pothohar regions performed the worst. Rawalpindi sits at the very bottom.

Massive Gender Gap Exposed in BISE Punjab 9th Class Results
Female students heavily outperformed their male counterparts. However, the overall results remain deeply concerning. We aggregated exact gender data from the Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, and Sargodha gazettes to highlight the divide.
A total of 54,854 girls appeared in Bahawalpur. Furthermore, 63,018 appeared in Rawalpindi. Additionally, 52,619 appeared in Sargodha. Across these three boards, 81,524 girls passed. They achieved a combined pass rate of 47.82%.
Conversely, boys suffered an absolute academic massacre. Exactly 50,747 boys appeared in Bahawalpur. Similarly, 58,721 took the exams in Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, 55,163 appeared in Sargodha. Only 50,736 boys cleared the exams. Their pass percentage crashed to just 30.82%.
Even though girls led the pack, fewer than half actually passed.
Private Candidates Hit a Brick Wall
Institutional support makes a massive difference. Private candidates faced the highest failure rates across the board. Without school backing, these students struggled immensely to clear the new 40% mark.
- In Rawalpindi, private candidates faced a catastrophic 18.07% pass rate.
- Bahawalpur followed closely, as private students achieved only a 26.38% pass rate.
- Sargodha recorded a massive failure rate with only 35.03% passing.
Ultimately, the raised passing threshold exposed severe institutional weaknesses.
