Pakistan Air Force’s NASTP Developing Nine New Radar Systems

The Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) National Aerospace Science & Technology Park (NASTP) has announced that it is actively working on nine innovative radar and sensor development projects. These programs include the development of a passive radar, a multi-function radar, and an airborne early warning (AEW) radar. The announcement highlights Pakistan’s growing capabilities in indigenous defense technology and advanced radar systems.
The revelation came during a PAF promotional video, which provided a summary of a recent visit by President Asif Ali Zardari to one of NASTP’s key facilities. The video emphasized the progress made in developing cutting-edge radar technology, showcasing the strides taken in bolstering the country’s defense infrastructure through self-reliant solutions.
In addition to the new radar development projects, NASTP has successfully upgraded more than 40 radars for various branches of the country’s armed forces. These include systems for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Pakistan Army (PA), and Pakistan Navy (PN). Notably, some of these upgraded radars were also provided to international clients, reflecting the growing global recognition of Pakistan’s defense technology sector.
The radar upgrades and ongoing projects are part of PAF’s broader strategy to modernize its operational capabilities, improve situational awareness, and enhance the country’s air defense systems. The new passive radar and AEW radar will play a critical role in strengthening Pakistan’s air surveillance and defense network by offering improved detection and tracking capabilities.
NASTP’s focus on local innovation in high-tech defense systems not only reduces dependency on foreign technology but also positions Pakistan as a significant player in the global defense industry. These advancements demonstrate the potential for Pakistan’s defense sector to expand further in both domestic and international markets.
