The Punjab Education Department has banned summer camps in all schools across the province from July 1, citing rising temperatures and persistent heatwave conditions.
According to an official notification, educational institutions were permitted to conduct summer camps only until June 30. From July 1 onward, all schools have been directed to suspend summer camp activities to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
The department warned that strict action will be taken against schools that fail to comply with the directive. Violations may result in heavy fines and, in severe cases, the cancellation of a school’s license.
Education authorities have instructed district officials to notify all public and private schools about the decision and ensure its effective implementation.
Inspection teams will begin visiting educational institutions from July 1 to monitor compliance. Schools found operating summer camps without authorization will face immediate action under the department’s regulations.
Officials said the decision was taken to protect students from the health risks associated with extreme heat, as temperatures remain unusually high across several parts of Punjab.
Meanwhile, parents have been advised to encourage children to complete their holiday assignments at home and avoid outdoor activities during peak daytime hours to minimize the risk of heat-related illnesses.
