The district administration of Murree has received more than 15 electric buses under a Punjab government initiative aimed at cutting pollution and improving public transport for residents and tourists.
Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi announced the handover while speaking to media, describing the project as a milestone in promoting eco-friendly and modern transport in the hill station.
He said the electric buses would significantly reduce air pollution and carbon emissions, helping preserve the natural environment. The fleet will serve both local residents and the millions of domestic and foreign tourists who visit the area annually, offering safe, comfortable and low-cost travel.
The Deputy Commissioner further added that the buses are equipped with modern technology to ensure a high standard of passenger experience.
He added that electric charging stations will be established across Murree to guarantee uninterrupted service, with buses deployed on key highways, tourist destinations and busy routes throughout the region.
The deputy commissioner said the Punjab government continues to prioritise the development of Murree, focusing on modern urban infrastructure and environment-friendly initiatives.
