Capcom officially confirmed that a paid story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem is currently in production. Director Koshi Nakanishi and Producer Masato Kumazawa shared this update yesterday during an interview with Denfaminicogamer. Furthermore, the developers revealed a slight shift in their overall production schedule.
Resident Evil Requiem Director Koshi Nakanishi says the RE9 DLC mini game will be based on the main game's combat! #RE9

The upcoming expansion will address major narrative loose ends. Specifically, fans noticed Leon S. Kennedy wearing a wedding ring in the base game. Nakanishi flatly refused to spoil the plot. He simply stated the time to solve the mystery “isn’t now”. Meanwhile, trusted leaker Dusk Golem claims the DLC will center heavily on Leon. Additionally, he indicates that Grace Ashcroft might return for a major role in the expansion.
Before the paid Resident Evil Requiem DLC arrives, Capcom will release a free mini-game this May. This mode focuses purely on the base game’s visceral combat. It requires players to complete the main campaign first. Nakanishi told fans to “sharpen your tomahawk” for this single-player experience. Consequently, players speculate this could be a classic Mercenaries mode or something entirely unique.
Resident Evil Requiem earned this post-launch support through massive commercial success. The game surpassed seven million copies sold in just two months. It easily became the best-performing debut in franchise history. In fact, the title sold twice as fast as the recent Resident Evil 4 remake. The PlayStation 5 led these massive sales numbers. However, the game also performed strongly on PC and Xbox Series X/S. Currently, players can jump back into the already-released photo mode while they wait for the May update.
