Samsung could be preparing one of its most noticeable design changes in years. A fresh report from Korea suggests the company may rethink camera placement in the upcoming Galaxy S27 series. The move, if true, would shift the design language Samsung has used for a long time.
Right now, it remains unclear how the camera island will look after this change. However, any shift in position would mark a major redesign. Samsung phones have been strongly linked with their current camera layout for years.
The reason behind this possible change goes beyond looks. Samsung may need to rearrange the cameras to add magnets inside its flagship slab-style phones. These magnets are part of the Qi2 standard. So far, only Google has used them in Android devices, while Apple first introduced them in iPhones.
If Samsung adds these magnets, it would bring clear benefits. For example, MagSafe accessories could work directly with Galaxy S27 devices without needing cases. That would improve ease of use and expand accessory options.
However, this plan is not confirmed yet. Reports still describe it as early speculation. So, expectations should remain in check for now.
There is also a chance of delay. The source mentions recent cost issues as a concern. Because of this, Samsung may pause the project for the time being. If that happens, integrated magnets might arrive with the Galaxy S28 series instead.
The final decision may depend on how RAM and storage prices change in the coming months. For now, the idea sounds promising, but it is far from certain.
