Apple may finally bring touchscreen displays to its MacBook Pro lineup. The company is reportedly planning 14-inch and 16-inch OLED touchscreen models. The new MacBook Pro models could arrive in late 2026 or early 2027. Several reports have already shared details about Apple’s plans. However, a new report from South Korea offers more information about the display supply chain.
According to the report, Samsung Display will become the exclusive supplier of OLED touchscreen panels for the upcoming MacBook Pro models. This would mark an important change for Apple’s Mac lineup. Previous reports suggested that LG Display could also supply OLED panels for the new MacBooks.
LG reportedly offered to use its sixth-generation OLED production line for Apple’s upcoming laptops. Meanwhile, Samsung proposed using its more advanced 8.6-generation OLED line.
Samsung’s production technology may have helped the company secure the exclusive deal. As a result, Apple is expected to rely solely on Samsung Display for these OLED panels.
According to The Elec, Samsung could supply around 2.5 million OLED display units for the upcoming MacBook Pro models. The report also claims that Samsung Display is expected to become the exclusive OLED panel supplier for Apple’s upcoming iPhone Ultra.
Apple has not officially confirmed the touchscreen MacBook Pro plans. Still, the latest report adds more weight to earlier rumors about the company’s move toward OLED displays and touch input on its laptops.
