government of Sindh has distributed 200 free pink electric scooters among female students and working women under its women mobility initiative during a ceremony held in Hyderabad.
Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon attended the event as chief guest and handed over the scooters to selected beneficiaries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Memon said the initiative aims to provide safer, more independent, and accessible transportation options for female students, working women, and businesswomen across the province.
He stated that the selection process was conducted without political, ethnic, or linguistic discrimination and described the programme as part of broader efforts to support women’s empowerment.
The minister also highlighted other government initiatives focused on women, including the pink bus service, autism centers, expanded healthcare access, and housing projects that grant ownership rights to women.
According to officials, the pink scooter scheme has encouraged thousands of women across Sindh to apply for driving licenses, reflecting growing interest in independent mobility.
Authorities further clarified that the scooters are reserved exclusively for women and cannot be sold for seven years. Helmet use has also been made mandatory to strengthen rider safety.
