Spotify has introduced a new Running Mode for its iOS app, giving Premium subscribers a more personalized way to enjoy music during workouts. The feature is currently available in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden. If you have a Premium subscription and use an iPhone in one of these countries, you can now access Running Mode through the Fitness Hub.
The new feature focuses on making runs more enjoyable with music that matches your workout. Running Mode includes 25 curated running playlists. Users can adjust each playlist based on workout type, session length, beats per minute, and their music preferences. As a result, every run can feel more personal.
Once a workout starts, Spotify automatically plays songs that fit your running session. The company says the playlists move smoothly from one track to the next. This creates a more natural listening experience and helps keep the energy level consistent throughout the workout.
In addition, Running Mode offers optional audio cues in English. These voice prompts provide guidance and motivation while you run. Spotify describes the experience as having a supportive friend by your side. The prompts aim to encourage users without interrupting the music.
Spotify says users have shown strong interest in fitness-related prompts through its Prompted Playlists feature. Because of that feedback, the company decided to build a more customized workout experience. Running Mode is the latest result of that effort, offering runners a simple way to combine music and fitness in one place.
