As Pakistan Telecommunication Mobile Limited (PTML) a.k.a Ufone for now, moves into its post-merger phase, a series of leadership changes are taking shape across the organization.
From the CEO’s office to key commercial and technical positions, industry sources suggest several appointments have either been finalized or are under consideration.
Who Will Lead PTML?
The biggest question surrounding the restructuring is who will take the helm of PTML. Hatem Bamatraf to lead the company, having previously served as CEO of both PTCL and PTML before the merger.
What Happens to Awais Vohra?
Another key question is the future of Awais Vohra, who was appointed Acting CEO of Telenor Pakistan after previously serving as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Sources familiar with the matter told TechJuice that Vohra is expected to transition back into a technical leadership role and is likely to be confirmed as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of PTML.
What Happens to the CCO and CMO Positions?
The commercial leadership structure is also undergoing changes.
As reported earlier, Telenor Pakistan’s Chief Consumer Business Officer (CCO) and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) have resigned. Meanwhile, Ufone currently does not have a Chief Marketing Officer, leaving one of the key commercial positions unfilled.
Sources further suggest that Atif Raza, currently serving as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Ufone, is expected to move into PTML as part of the ongoing organizational restructuring. Still, one position stays vacant so we will have to see if the position is filled internally or any industry expert is made to step in (from Zong, Jazz).
Who will Oversee the Merged Company’s Finances as CFO?
The newly merged telecom entity, comprising PTML (Ufone) and Telenor Pakistan, has officially appointed Mudasser Shafiq as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Shafiq previously served as the Acting CFO of Telenor Pakistan.
Who Will Become Chief People Officer (CPO)?
Another key leadership position still under discussion is the Chief People Officer (CPO) role. According to sources, Areej is likely to continue as Chief People Officer, as Umer Farid is understood not to be transitioning from PTCL to PTML.
What Does This Mean for PTML?
The expected appointments signal a broader effort to establish a unified leadership structure following the integration of Ufone and Telenor Pakistan. While the company has yet to officially announce the changes, the restructuring is expected to define PTML’s strategic direction in the months ahead.
NOTE: This is a developing story and complete breakdown is expected to be announced shortly.
