The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has received invitations to attend the upcoming ICC Board meeting in India and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will decide whether the PCB Chairman travels to the neighboring country, as his participation in both events requires official government approval.
According to media reports, the ICC Chief Executive Committee will hold a virtual meeting on 21 May, followed by the Board meeting on 30 and 31 May in Ahmedabad.
Discussions will focus on possible changes to the World Test Championship (WTC) format, which currently requires each series to include a minimum of 2 Test matches.
Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan are under consideration for inclusion in the World Test Championship, with final decisions expected during the upcoming ICC Board meeting.
The attendance of the PCB Chairman remains conditional on Prime Ministerial approval, despite formal invitations to both the ICC Board meeting and the Indian Premier League final.
It is worth noting that India and Pakistan maintain strained relations due to geopolitical tensions and cricketing boundaries established after the Asia Cup 2025.
Despite tensions, Mohsin Naqvi is expected to visit Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad following an invitation from the BCCI, signaling potential willingness for dialogue between sides.
Such visits have occurred previously, as PCB officials traveled to India during tense periods, suggesting that sporting engagements can persist even when broader political relations remain fragile.
