Microsoft Integrates AI-Powered Shopping Inside Copilot
Microsoft is making it easier to shop while chatting with AI. Its Copilot chatbot now lets users buy products directly during conversations. For instance, if you ask for sneaker suggestions, Copilot can show a checkout option for the product right inside the app.
Microsoft shared an example where someone searches for a small bedside lamp. Copilot responds with a recommendation and provides two buttons: “Details” for more information and “Buy” to make a purchase. Clicking “Buy” opens a checkout screen where users can enter payment and shipping details without leaving the app or visiting the retailer’s website.

This feature mirrors the in-chat checkout OpenAI recently introduced in ChatGPT. It also reflects a broader trend of AI-powered agents shopping on behalf of users. Google has added agentic checkout in Search and AI Mode, while Perplexity’s AI browser and chatbot also assist users in making purchases, a move that has reportedly frustrated Amazon.
Microsoft is launching in-chat checkouts on Copilot.com in the US. The feature is available with select retailers, including Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Ashley Furniture, and some Etsy sellers. Payments are powered through partnerships with PayPal, Stripe, and Shopify, making the buying process seamless.
