The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced a fuel subsidy for up to 1.6 million motorcyclists across the province to help offset the impact of rising petroleum prices and provide relief in daily travel expenses.
According to officials, there are around 1.4 to 1.6 million registered motorcycles in the province. Under the new initiative, each registered motorcycle owner will receive a subsidy of Rs. 2,200, which will be provided in two installments.
The provincial government said the subsidy is aimed at offering direct financial assistance to people who rely on motorcycles for daily commuting, particularly amid increasing fuel costs that have added pressure on household budgets.
In a related decision, the government has also decided to keep fares of the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) unchanged despite inflationary pressures, ensuring affordable public transport for commuters in Peshawar.
Officials further announced plans to introduce dedicated pink buses for women within the BRT system to improve safe and affordable transportation for female passengers. Authorities have also directed that fares for women on these buses remain lower.
Separately, the provincial administration said it is preparing a special agricultural relief package for farmers ahead of the upcoming wheat harvesting season.
