Former England cricketer Nick Knight has been named in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) English commentary panel, confirmed in the official list released by PCB on March 23.
Despite that announcement, Knight is also included in the commentary panel for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, creating questions about his commitments between the two events.
However, neither the PSL management nor Nick Knight himself has publicly confirmed any decision to switch from the PSL to the IPL ahead of the forthcoming season.
PSL Commentary Line‑Up
On March 23, PCB released the full list of English-language commentators for the PSL, including several international players and former cricketers for coverage.
The panel included West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite, making his commentary debut, and former Australia women’s cricketer Lisa Sthalekar.
The panel also included South Africa’s Jean-Paul Duminy, Michael Haysman, England’s Dominic Cork, Nick Knight, Mark Butcher, New Zealand’s Martin Guptill, Australia’s Greg Blewett, and Bangladesh’s Athar Ali Khan.
IPL Commentary Announcement
Meanwhile, Star Sports unveiled its list of English commentators for IPL 2026, with Knight included alongside a high-profile roster featuring Danny Morrison, Michael Clarke, AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, and Ravi Shastri.
The appearance of Knight in both PSL and IPL commentary lists has drawn attention, with cricket fans noting the unusual overlap without formal confirmation of his final commitments.
Cricket Morals at Risk
Earlier, renowned commentator Simon Doull raised serious concerns over the increasing influence of money in cricket, warning that financial incentives should never compromise the game’s integrity.
Doull said that while PSL features impressive talent and competitiveness, the growing financial power of the IPL is creating ethical dilemmas for professional players.
He added that commitments to leagues must be respected, and professionalism in cricket should be built on integrity, fair competition, and respect for agreements rather than monetary pressure.
PSL Faces Player Exodus to IPL
The Pakistan Super League 2026 has been affected by several players leaving to join IPL teams, forcing franchises to reshuffle their squads ahead of the opening matches this season.
Overseas players, including Dasun Shanaka and Blessing Muzarabani, have withdrawn from their PSL contracts to join IPL teams, raising concerns about the enforcement of contractual commitments.
Franchises have had to make last-minute adjustments due to withdrawals, injuries, and late inclusions of domestic performers, increasing logistical and financial pressure on the teams.
