Techland released Hotfix “Version 1.6.1” (Restored Land Edition 1.6) for Dying Light: The Beast on April 2, 2026. This update follows the massive Restored Land DLC, which introduced permanent zombie clearing. Furthermore, it builds upon the game’s recent 11-week post-launch roadmap that previously added New Game Plus and Nightmare difficulty. The developer focused heavily on quality-of-life improvements, inventory management, and extensive bug fixes.

Revamped Hunger Mechanics & Loot Upgrades
Players will immediately notice changes to the game’s survival mechanics. Techland slowed down overall hunger depletion. Consequently, hunger drains much slower while Kyle Crane sleeps. The “Very Hungry” and “Famished” states now trigger later in the game. To further assist survival, vendors now sell improvised food bars.
Additionally, the update enhances the game’s loot economy. Players can now upgrade weapon blueprints from DLC bundles directly to Legendary rarity. Meanwhile, Biters and Virals now drop rags and bandages much more frequently.
Smarter Inventory Management & Chases
Hotfix 1.6.1 introduces smarter inventory handling to prevent lost items. If a player receives a new weapon during a cutscene while holding a full inventory, the game automatically moves their lowest-quality weapon to the stash. If both the stash and inventory are full, the lowest-quality weapon drops directly onto the ground.
Night chases also received a necessary rebalance. Specifically, Level 1 night chases are now slightly easier to escape.
Critical Bug Fixes & Dying Light: The Beast Multiplayer Improvements
The patch delivers a massive list of technical corrections across the board. For multiplayer, Techland successfully fixed the crossplay connection between Steam and Epic platforms. Moreover, they resolved an issue causing unresponsive NPCs during Co-op sessions.
Combat and world interactions are now significantly smoother. Notably, the developer removed the ammo cap when looting ranged human enemies. Alpha Volatiles now spawn correctly during chase sequences on the Restored Land. Furthermore, the hunger meter no longer disappears during the boss fight with The Beast.
Players participating in Roadkill Rallies will see major improvements. Techland fixed the “Days Survived” counter, which previously ticked up improperly after starting a race. They also eliminated infinite death loops occurring outside the playable area, fixed ghost cars remaining on tracks from previous attempts, and resolved the broken Night Cycle that triggered after quitting to the main menu.
Finally, the update targets UI and achievement tracking. The “Better Be Safe” and “Peace Bringer” achievements no longer auto-complete. Furthermore, the “Apex Predator” achievement now correctly requires players to kill a Volatile after the specific “One flew over the Volatiles’ nest” cutscene. Mod tutorials display correctly regardless of inventory space, and item stacks now subtract accurately when moved to the stash.
