Meta’s Edits video editing app has rolled out a batch of new Halloween-themed options alongside major editing upgrades. The announcement came through Meta’s creator channels on October 27, 2026. The timing lines up with content creators ramping up spooky videos for the Halloween weekend.
The Halloween content includes new spooky fonts, sound effects, and animations for video clips. Specifically, Edits now offers 13 new text animations for seasonal styling. These let creators add quick spooky typography to Reels and short videos.
The update also brings several practical new editing tools. For example, beat-synced effects can now add flashing lights and zoom moves that automatically align with music beats. In addition, the app now offers new caption styles and bulk caption editing. Furthermore, automated color adjustment tools help balance brightness and color across clips.
Edits also upgraded its audio controls. Specifically, users can now raise individual clip volume up to 150% within a project. This gives creators finer control over mixing music, voiceovers, and ambient sound.
The carousel editor has also expanded to Android after an earlier iOS launch this month. However, desktop support is still coming soon according to Meta. As a result, Edits now works as a nearly full video creation studio for mobile creators.
Furthermore, Meta designed a new filter in collaboration with Nigerian musician Ayra Starr. The filter adds another artist-driven effect to the growing library.

Instagram itself has also leaned into Halloween across the main app. Specifically, typing Happy Halloween or Trick-or-treat in DMs triggers a full-screen themed animation on the recipient’s side. In addition, the text itself appears in orange. The feature also works in Instagram Notes.
The Stories tab has new Halloween templates too. Five limited-edition Add Yours templates sit in the Happy Halloween section of the Add Yours Templates Discover surface. Users can also apply a Halloween theme to DMs and Instagram Broadcast Channels.
Meta AI Imagine also offers Halloween-styled avatar generation. For example, users can create virtual versions of themselves in campfire or ghostly scenes and share them on Stories. Furthermore, the Halloween font and Haunted text effect work across Stories, Feed, and Reels.
Despite criticisms from some users, many Pakistani content creators actively post Halloween content for international audiences, especially those targeting Western markets. As a result, the new tools help Pakistani editors compete with creators who have access to premium editing software.
