Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced immediate financial relief measures, introducing subsidies for wheat growers and registered motorbike owners to counter rising fuel costs.
CM confirmed she is personally supervising the subsidy system, ensuring transparent distribution of financial benefits, and guaranteeing every eligible farmer receives timely assistance.
She also abolished motorbike registration fees across Punjab, waiving transfer charges, and introduced a monthly subsidy of two thousand rupees for every registered motorbike.
Under the package, each registered motorbike will receive subsidized petrol, capped at twenty liters monthly, with a discount of one hundred rupees per liter.
The chief minister stated the relief package has been launched with immediate effect, aiming to provide direct financial support to farmers and motorbike owners across Punjab.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a reduction of Rs80 per litre in the petrol levy, bringing the new petrol price down to Rs378 per litre.
The revised price will come into effect from 12:00am on Saturday, offering immediate respite after a sharp surge in fuel costs just a day earlier.
The announcement follows the recent decision by government to significantly increase fuel prices, with petrol rising by 43 percent and high-speed diesel (HSD) by 55 percent.
Prime Minister also clarified that the revised petrol price of Rs378 per litre will remain in place for at least one month.
