The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) released its car sales report for April 2026. The month-on-month numbers show strong overall growth across the industry. However, performance varied heavily among major brands. Suzuki and Haval clearly excelled. Conversely, Hyundai lagged in key segments.
Suzuki Dominates the Car Sales Race
Suzuki recorded a massive surge in sales. The brand completely dominated the market in April. Specifically, the Suzuki Swift saw a staggering 122% increase. It jumped from 992 units in March to 2,205 units. Moreover, the Every minivan grew by 93%. The Alto remains the undisputed volume leader. Alto sales hit 7,567 units, marking a solid 66% growth. Cultus mirrored this 66% increase as well.
| Models | Mar-26 | Apr-26 | Difference |
| Alto | 4,571 | 7,567 | +66% |
| Cultus | 294 | 489 | +66% |
| Every | 390 | 751 | +93% |
| Swift | 992 | 2,205 | +122% |
Hyundai Lags Behind in Premium Segments
Unlike Suzuki, Hyundai experienced a tough month. The brand lagged significantly in its premium and crossover offerings. Sonata sales dropped by 21%. Tucson followed closely with a 19% decline. On the other hand, the Elantra saved Hyundai from a complete slump. Elantra sales surged by 96%. Furthermore, the Santa Fe managed a modest 18% growth.
| Models | Mar-26 | Apr-26 | Difference |
| Tucson | 321 | 259 | -19% |
| Sonata | 43 | 34 | -21% |
| Elantra | 218 | 428 | +96% |
| Santa Fe | 40 | 47 | +18% |
Toyota, Honda & Chinese Disruption
Toyota and Honda posted steady, stable growth. Toyota’s Corolla and Yaris lineup grew by 10%. Meanwhile, the Fortuner and Hilux models increased by 21%. Honda also pushed forward. City and Civic sales rose by 19%. However, Honda’s crossovers stagnated. The BR-V and HR-V grew by a mere 3%, selling only 284 units combined.
This stagnation is alarming because new Chinese entrants are actively stealing market share. Jetour entered the market and sold 305 units in its first recorded month. Consequently, Jetour instantly outsold Honda’s entire crossover lineup. Additionally, GWM’s Haval continued its strong run. Haval sales increased by 27%, reaching 2,208 units. Finally, the Tank 500 recorded 16 units in April.
