Microsoft has recently introduced the Surface Laptop 8 in 13.8-inch and 15-inch sizes, along with the Surface Pro. These new devices run on Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors. However, the company is now reportedly shifting focus toward Windows on ARM. A new Surface Laptop Ultra is also expected, powered by the Nvidia RTX Spark chipset.
At the same time, Microsoft is not leaving ARM development behind. A fresh leak suggests new Snapdragon-based Surface devices are in the works. One of the most notable models is the Surface Pro 13-inch.
According to the leak, the Surface Pro 13-inch will use the Snapdragon X2 Elite chip. This variant comes with 12 Prime “Oryon” cores. It will also be paired with 32GB of soldered RAM. In addition, the device will include a PCIe 4.0 SSD.
Storage options will include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. However, the SSD will be replaceable. This means users can upgrade storage later if needed.
The tablet will feature a 13-inch OLED display. It will also support the Surface Slim Pen, which will be optional. Microsoft is also offering an optional Surface Pro 13-inch Flex Keyboard. This keyboard can be used in laptop mode when attached. It can also work wirelessly for more flexibility.
For connectivity, the device will include two USB-C 4.0 ports. These ports will support charging, data transfer, and video output. Moreover, the Hexagon NPU will deliver 80 TOPS of AI performance in INT8 tasks. This will help run on-device AI features smoothly.
Since this is an ARM-based device, it will also support x86 emulation. This will allow users to run apps that are not built for ARM platforms.
Battery details are not confirmed yet. However, the Surface Pro 13-inch is expected to offer up to 15.5 hours of video playback. It will come in Black, Platinum, and Dune color options. The matching keyboards will feature Alcantara material.
This information is based on leaks, so it is not official yet. Microsoft is expected to reveal final details on June 16. Reports also suggest that lower-tier chips like Snapdragon X2 Plus may also be included in the lineup.
