Social media platforms Facebook and Instagram have largely recovered after a brief global disruption that left millions of users unable to access the services, particularly through their web versions.
The outage affected users across multiple countries, including Pakistan, with reports of difficulties loading feeds, accessing websites, refreshing content, and using messaging features. While the mobile applications remained partially functional for many users, the web versions of both platforms experienced widespread disruptions.
Following the outage, Andy Stone, Vice President of Communications at Meta Platforms, confirmed that services were being restored, stating on X that “we are coming back.”
Checks conducted after the announcement indicate that both Facebook and Instagram are now functioning normally for most users. However, Meta has cautioned that some users may continue to experience intermittent issues as systems fully stabilize.
According to Stone, it may take some time before all services return completely to normal, suggesting that minor disruptions could persist during the recovery process.
The outage primarily impacted the web versions of Facebook and Instagram, while mobile applications continued to operate, at least partially, throughout much of the disruption.
The incident highlights the scale of Meta’s global platforms, where even short service interruptions can affect millions of users, businesses, content creators, and advertisers worldwide.
