Sindh Inspector General of Police has established a high-level committee to modernise the provincial force through artificial intelligence and drone-based aerial surveillance systems.
AIG Iqbal Dara will chair the body, which includes DIGs of establishment and West Zone, AIGs of state management and finance, and the East Zone investigation member.
The committee will assess the operational need for drone units capable of conducting real-time aerial surveillance across Sindh, forming a dedicated drone operations wing within the police.
It will also review requirements for an artificial intelligence division, a cybercrime wing, and specialised investigation and security forces to address emerging law enforcement challenges.
A professional media and strategic communication team is among the proposed new units, reflecting a broader aim to modernise how the Sindh police engages with the public and media.
The panel will conduct a technical review to identify staffing needs for each new wing, including the recruitment of IT experts and other professionally skilled personnel into policing roles.
A structured framework will be developed to guide the transfer or direct recruitment of officers into these specialist roles, ensuring a systematic and planned transition toward modern policing.
