Samsung has expanded its collaboration with OpenAI beyond semiconductor manufacturing, bringing the company’s AI tools to its global workforce. The tech giant has signed an agreement with OpenAI to provide employees across all Samsung divisions with access to ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex.
The move reflects Samsung’s growing focus on artificial intelligence, both in its consumer products and internal operations. While the company has heavily promoted Galaxy AI features through its One UI platform, it is now increasing AI adoption across its business units to support product development and workplace productivity.
Under the agreement, ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex will assist employees with a wide range of tasks, including software engineering, marketing, product planning, manufacturing, and other technical and non-technical operations.
Although Codex was originally designed as a coding assistant, its capabilities have expanded significantly. The AI tool is now widely used for writing, reviewing, and debugging code, as well as organizing workflows and improving team productivity.
OpenAI recently revealed that Codex is being used by more than 5 million people worldwide. The company also reported nearly 800% growth in usage since February 1, highlighting the rapid adoption of AI-powered productivity tools.
Samsung’s latest AI initiative follows a broader trend across South Korea, where major organizations are increasingly integrating OpenAI’s technologies. LG Electronics has already adopted OpenAI solutions, while Seoul National University recently introduced ChatGPT Edu for approximately 47,000 students and staff members.
