Reddit has announced a range of new advertising tools to help brands connect with users more naturally. The update includes free-form ads, AI-powered creative suggestions, Redditor Highlights, and new shopping ad formats. The push aims to turn community conversations into buying decisions.
The biggest addition is Reddit’s free-form ad generator, currently in beta. The tool lets advertisers create ads inspired by popular long-form Reddit posts. These ads can carry text, images, GIFs, and video, giving brands more room to explain products. Unlike standard ads, free-form ads blend into Reddit’s discussion-driven feed and invite comments and upvotes.
Reddit also launched tailored creative assets, another beta feature for building campaigns. The tool recommends headlines, images, and target communities based on current engagement. Using AI, it identifies relevant audience segments, then generates customized headlines and image variations. That could help brands reach the right people and lift campaign performance.
The company is making Redditor Highlights generally available too. The feature lets advertisers embed real Reddit conversations directly inside their ads. Reddit is also testing new shopping ads that display multiple products below relevant discussions. The carousel format mirrors product listings seen on search engines, but placed inside Reddit threads.
Reddit paired these updates with fresh data from its latest Path to Purchase survey. The company surveyed nearly 14,000 users to understand how they shop on the platform. Half of US shoppers said they use Reddit to verify recommendations generated by AI tools. Half of Reddit users also discover new products on the platform.
Reddit ranked first among social platforms for speeding up purchase decisions in the US and UK. These findings explain the heavy investment in new ad options. The strategy arrives as Reddit’s ad business booms. The company reported $625 million in ad revenue last quarter, up 74% year over year.
