The Punjab government has made the Green Property Certificate (GPC) mandatory for all land and property transactions across the province from July 1, 2026, in a move aimed at improving transparency and preventing fraud in real estate dealings.
Chairman of the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA), Tariq Subhani, said the certificate will verify both ownership and possession of a property before any transaction is completed. He said the measure is expected to help eliminate fraud and forgery in property transfers.
Subhani said the initiative is part of historic reforms to Punjab’s 486-year-old land administration system, designed to modernise land records and strengthen the integrity of property transactions.
Chairman of the Punjab Land Records Authority added that the Green Property Certificate will cost Rs950 and can be obtained from the nearest Land Record Centre across the province.
The Green Property Certificate is a new document introduced by the Punjab government to verify the ownership and possession status of land and property before a transaction is completed.
Is is worth noting that the certificate is issued by the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) through Land Record Centres across the province.
