The Sindh government has decided to formally convert its pilot employment initiative, ‘I Work for Sindh,’ into a permanent state-run programme, according to the Information Department.
The decision was made during a key meeting of the Information Department chaired by Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. Officials agreed on a comprehensive strategy to make the platform more effective, integrated and technologically advanced.
Briefing on the performance of the platform, Memon said ‘I Work for Sindh’ has become an effective digital platform for the youth and institutions in the province, attracting more than 4.8 million visits to date.
The minister said 113,000 candidates have registered on the platform, along with 670 companies. He added that 11,100 jobs are currently active, out of a total of 20,800 jobs posted since the launch of platform. More than 419,000 job applications have been submitted so far.
Memon said the portal offers an automatic CV-building tool and includes a ‘Learn and Earn’ feature that allows users to gain skills while earning income.
He added that live career counselling sessions with industry experts will soon be introduced on the portal, providing young people with direct career guidance.
The minister said the Sindh government intends to convert ‘I Work for Sindh’ into a formal state programme and called on all relevant departments to work together in a coordinated manner to ensure its success.
He added that the Information Department serves as the primary channel of communication between the government and the public, and that timely, transparent and effective dissemination of information remains essential to meeting modern requirements.
