NEPRA has approved the recovery of Rs200 billion from electricity consumers to cover system costs of the National Grid Company, with collection set to begin on August 1, 2026.
The approval follows a petition filed by the National Grid Company seeking recovery of revenue expenses accumulated over the past three years. NEPRA issued a written decision after conducting hearings on the request.
The amount will be collected from consumers through electricity distribution companies across the country, including LESCO and other DISCOs.
These companies will be permitted to charge an additional amount under the tariff structure, which may result in an increase in the per-unit price of electricity.
Officials said the recovery is intended to cover system costs incurred by the National Grid.
The decision is expected to have a direct impact on the monthly electricity bills of consumers, with further increases anticipated once the additional charges take effect.
