The future of custom Grand Theft Auto (GTA) multiplayer arrives next week. Specifically, the FiveM team will launch FiveM for GTA 5 Enhanced in Early Access on July 21. Currently, Rockstar Games remains strictly focused on releasing GTA 6 for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Meanwhile, the official GTA Online mode remains active, recently proving its relevance with the Kortz Center Heist update. However, the wider GTA community is already preparing for the next era of online multiplayer. Consequently, this upcoming FiveM update delivers massive infrastructure improvements to carry PC players forward.

Massive Networking & Performance Upgrades
This update fundamentally transforms server performance. First, developers are upgrading the core networking technology. The synchronization rate will jump from 30 updates per second to a maximum of 120 updates per second. As a result, players will experience drastically reduced delays between their actions and what others see in-game. Additionally, the team improved entity culling. This specific change allows highly populated servers to handle players and objects much more efficiently while cutting down visual lag.
Furthermore, server owners and creators receive major technical enhancements. The update introduces the new Cfx Server system. Notably, this system cuts memory usage by up to 50% in certain scenarios. Developers will also gain improved scripting support, expanded performance tracking, and upgraded monitoring tools. Currently, servers hold a maximum of 2,048 players. However, the FiveM platform is actively working to support larger player counts. Subsequently, the team plans future public testing to officially break this current limit.
FiveM for GTA 5 Enhanced Brings Better Quality of Life for Players
Finally, standard players will notice immediate quality-of-life changes. For instance, FiveM will now automatically remove outdated server files. This feature actively prevents storage bloat over time. Players also receive improved installation options and better cache management for more reliable performance. Ultimately, Rockstar currently has no plans for a PC version of GTA 6 or its native online mode. Therefore, FiveM and GTA 5 Enhanced still have a massive shelf life ahead of them. Clearly, the demand for custom GTA experiences is not slowing down anytime soon.
