The gaming community finally has fresh details about Ubisoft’s next highly anticipated project. Yesterday, known leaker Rogue dropped a massive wave of information regarding Assassin’s Creed (AC) Hexe. Consequently, fans now have a much clearer picture of the upcoming title. The game currently targets a June 2027 release window. Furthermore, it promises an incredibly dark tone that perfectly matches its historical Witch Hunt backdrop.
A Dark, Linear World With Enhanced Stealth & Returning Mechanics
Ubisoft transports players to Germany during the brutal Witch Trials. Specifically, the game features two major historical cities, namely Wurzburg and Nuremberg. A massive forest connects these key locations. Additionally, smaller villages dot this expansive woodland.
However, AC Hexe abandons the traditional sprawling open-world formula. Instead, the developers created a large-scale, yet strictly linear experience. Players will navigate this grim environment as a new protagonist named Annika.
Gameplay mechanics will see a major overhaul. First, the parkour system reverts to the classic style found in older titles. Yet, Rogue claims this movement system feels more advanced than ever before.
Moreover, stealth takes a unique and atmospheric turn. The game utilizes the advanced weather technology from AC Shadows to generate thick fog. Consequently, players can execute unique assassinations and takedowns under this heavy cover.
Additionally, a fan-favorite mechanic makes a grand return. The developers revived and improved the fear system from the AC Syndicate Jack the Ripper DLC. Because of this, NPCs will actively react to Annika. Enemies will panic, misfire their weapons, flee combat zones, or completely ostracize outsiders. Finally, the developers removed direct “magic” abilities from the core gameplay. Still, supernatural elements play a significant role in the story, likely tying into an Isu Artifact.
AC Hexe Platforms, Pricing, & the Road to Gamescom
Visually, the game reportedly outperforms AC Shadows. Players can expect the title to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Furthermore, Ubisoft plans to offer three distinct purchasing tiers. The Standard Edition will cost $70. Meanwhile, the Deluxe Edition hits $90, and the Collector’s Edition reaches $120. Fans who pre-order will also receive an exclusive bonus quest.
Currently, Ubisoft focuses heavily on the release of AC Black Flag Resynced. In fact, that game recently teased AC Hexe via a St. Lawrence Cathedral easter egg. However, Ubisoft openly admits its 2026 release lineup looks incredibly thin. Therefore, the publisher has the perfect opportunity to build hype for its 2027 slate. Many fans now expect Ubisoft to officially showcase AC Hexe at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany.
