Microsoft plans to bring all of its AI tools into one Copilot app later this year. The new app will combine AI chat, coding, coworking, and the company’s autonomous autopilots. It will be available for both consumers and business users.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella shared the plan during the company’s latest earnings call. The move shows Microsoft’s broader strategy to make Copilot a single destination for AI tasks instead of offering separate experiences.
The company is joining a growing race among AI firms to build “super apps.” These apps go beyond simple chatbots and combine several AI features in one place. As a result, users can switch between conversations, coding, teamwork, and AI agents without leaving the app.
Microsoft is not the only company following this approach. OpenAI already offers ChatGPT Work, while Anthropic has added Cowork to Claude. The goal is clear. These companies want users to spend more time inside one AI platform instead of moving between different apps.
This strategy could also help OpenAI and Anthropic strengthen their business before their expected initial public offerings. A single AI platform with multiple tools can increase user engagement and attract more paying customers.
Microsoft, however, has a major advantage. The company has the financial resources to continue expanding Copilot, even though its subscription numbers remain behind ChatGPT. According to Microsoft, Copilot has 30 million paid subscribers across its 450 million business seats.
With the upcoming unified Copilot app, Microsoft aims to make AI more useful for everyday work and personal tasks. If the rollout goes as planned, users will soon be able to access chat, coding, collaboration, and autonomous AI agents from one application.
