The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has extended its order restraining NHA from collecting a 50 percent additional toll tax from vehicles without an M-Tag or with insufficient balance.
The extension came during a hearing on a petition challenging the notification for the additional toll tax. The National Highway Authority submitted a written reply in court during proceedings.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir asked the counsel for the petitioner whether he had received a copy of the reply. The lawyer confirmed receiving it but said he had not yet had the opportunity to review its contents.
Counsel for the National Highway Authority informed the court that a similar case was also under hearing and requested that the two matters be merged.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir acknowledged awareness of the other case but clarified that the two petitions would be treated separately.
The court subsequently extended its order restraining NHA from collecting the 50 percent additional toll tax from vehicles lacking an M-Tag or carrying a low balance, and adjourned the hearing to a later date.
