Schools across Punjab will reopen on August 24 following the summer break, with Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat directing authorities to complete cleanliness, security, and safety arrangements beforehand.
The minister instructed officials to ensure thorough cleaning of classrooms, washrooms, playgrounds, and other school premises, along with a guaranteed supply of clean and safe drinking water for students.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said water tanks and rooftops must be cleaned and disinfected, while drainage systems should be inspected ahead of the monsoon season.
He directed schools to strictly enforce dengue-prevention SOPs and eliminate potential mosquito-breeding sites on their premises. Areas under construction or repair must be cordoned off to keep students safe, and fans, lights, switches, sockets, and electrical wiring across schools must be checked before reopening.
The minister also called for strict compliance with security SOPs in all public and private schools, instructing that CCTV cameras and other security equipment be made fully functional before classes resume.
He directed school heads to conduct final inspections ahead of reopening, warning that any negligence, delay, or failure to follow instructions would result in action against those responsible.
