Punjab’s education boards are preparing to introduce a digital marking system for board examinations, replacing traditional paper-based checking with on-screen evaluation. Under the proposed system, answer scripts will be scanned and securely assigned to authorized examiners through an online platform.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has directed education boards to initially introduce the system on a pilot basis for supplementary examinations. The system will include stronger examiner verification, time limits for checking papers, and digital records to track marking activity and reduce errors.
The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has already started implementing e-marking reforms, with scanned theory papers being evaluated remotely through secure examiner IDs. The digital system is expected to improve transparency, reduce physical handling of answer scripts, and address concerns over marking mistakes and inconsistencies.
