Apple’s long-rumored touchscreen MacBook Pro may finally be close to launch. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the new models could arrive next month. The company is expected to introduce 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Both laptops are expected to feature OLED touchscreen displays.
Several details about the OLED MacBook Pro have already surfaced. However, Gurman’s latest report adds an important change to the upcoming laptops. The new MacBook Pro models are expected to be “significantly lighter” than the current versions. Apple has reportedly redesigned the internal component layout to reduce their weight.
No exact weight figures have been shared yet. Still, the internal changes could make the new MacBook Pro easier to carry than existing models. The laptops are also expected to use Apple’s M6 chip. Apple is reportedly testing the new MacBook Pro models with macOS 27.2.
The touchscreen MacBook Pro will not be Apple’s only device moving to OLED. The company is also expected to bring an OLED display to the iPad mini. The next iPad mini is likely to keep its existing 8.3-inch display size. There is currently no indication of a major redesign for the tablet.
Apple has not officially announced either device yet. More details are expected to emerge as the reported launch window gets closer.
