Fans of Ubisoft’s latest blockbuster have a new way to explore its rich world. VIZ Media officially released the English-language version of Assassin’s Creed (AC) Shadows: Tales of Iga Volume 1 on June 16. This prequel manga dives directly into the titular shinobi village. Naturally, this location sits right at the heart of the acclaimed game’s story.
Japanese manga artist Regujie created this official adaptation. Furthermore, Weekly Young Magazine currently serializes the story on their Yanmaga website. Interestingly, the manga originally debuted in Japan on March 20, 2025. This launch date perfectly matched the release of the AAA game it is based upon.

AC Shadows Manga Pricing & Limited-Time Discounts
Currently, Volume 1 packs 192 pages of story. You can purchase it in both paperback and digital formats for $14.99. However, Amazon is running a tempting launch promotion right now. They have slashed the Kindle edition price by 27%, dropping it down to just $10.99. The deal lacks a listed end date. Therefore, buyers should act quickly before this launch window closes.
The Tales of Iga series will conclude with its second volume. Volume 2 features 188 pages and hits English markets on November 17, 2026. Meanwhile, the Japanese and French translations already launched earlier this year in March and June.
Historically, Ubisoft treats these manga releases as targeted regional experiments. They focus heavily on their most marketable historical settings rather than a unified publishing line. For instance, the franchise began its English manga journey back in August 2017. Titan Manga kicked things off with Assassin’s Creed: Awakening, a two-volume adaptation of Black Flag featuring Edward Kenway.
Upcoming Releases & Codename Hexe
Edward Kenway recently returned to the page in the “Forgotten Temple” series. Consequently, the fourth and final volume of that specific story will launch on August 18, 2026. Additionally, fans can look forward to Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, which releases next month on July 9.
Looking ahead, Ubisoft will likely give Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe a similar manga tie-in. The next mainline open-world game reportedly entered pre-production in 2022. Although it currently lacks an official public release window, recent reports suggest the development team is internally targeting a June 2027 launch.
