Honor has confirmed the launch date for its robot phone in China. The company will officially introduce the smartphone on August 12. The announcement comes after Honor revealed plans to showcase the device at its “Imaging Technology Launch Event” with Arri. Reservations for the Robot Phone opened in China earlier this month.
Honor has not shared the phone’s full specifications yet. However, a recent leak claims that the Robot Phone will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It may also pack a 6,000mAh battery.
The phone is expected to feature a 200MP main camera with a robotic arm gimbal. It could also include a 200MP periscope telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
Meanwhile, an unboxing video of the Honor Robot Phone has appeared on Weibo. The video shows the phone’s packaging and its large rear camera module. The robotic arm gimbal sits on the left side of the camera module. The other cameras and LED flash are placed on the right side.
When the gimbal is not in use, it sits flush with the phone’s body. A cover also protects the robotic arm when it is not active. The video also shows the camera app’s animation when the gimbal camera is turned on. The box includes a case, a charging cable, and a 120W charger.
