Huawei appears to be working on a new version of its foldable laptop, the MateBook Fold. The company introduced the first MateBook Fold in May, bringing a foldable display design to its laptop lineup. Now, a new leak suggests that its successor could arrive in the second half of this year.
According to a Chinese source on Weibo, the upcoming MateBook Fold will come in three color options. Buyers may be able to choose between Streaming Gold, Sky White, and Phantom Black.
The leak also reveals three memory and storage configurations. The entry model is said to feature 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Huawei could also offer a 24GB RAM and 1TB storage variant. Meanwhile, the top-end model may include 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage.
The new foldable laptop is expected to use a Kirin X9 series chipset. However, the leak does not provide further details about the processor or any performance upgrades.
Interestingly, Huawei has reportedly focused on reducing production costs for the new model. It remains unclear whether this move will result in a lower retail price. The company may instead use the savings to balance the cost of offering larger memory and storage options.
At this stage, there is no official confirmation from Huawei about the new MateBook Fold. However, if the leak proves accurate, the company could unveil the refreshed foldable laptop later this year with modest upgrades and expanded configuration choices.
