The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notice to the director general of immigration after three people, including a married couple, were offloaded at the airport while travelling for Umrah pilgrimage.
According to media reports, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the application filed by Asad Aslam, Imran, and Ishrat Imran, who challenged the offloading order.
Their lawyer, Advocate Tariq Muhammad Khan Marwat, told the court that his clients arrived at the airport on June 18 but were offloaded on the false grounds that they had no hotel booking.
He said the petitioners had both a return ticket and a QR code confirming their hotel reservation at the time of departure.
The lawyer further told the court that airport staff misbehaved with the passengers and offloaded them without verifying their documents. He alleged that staffers demanded a bribe in exchange for clearing the travellers.
The court was urged to grant the petitioners permission to proceed with their Umrah journey.
It was also requested to direct the relevant authorities to cover their Rs. 1.4 million in incurred expenses and to order a departmental inquiry against the staff members involved.
