Instagram continues to grow. The company has added 300 million monthly active users and 200 million daily active users in just a year.
A year ago, Instagram had 500 million monthly active users and 300 million daily active users. The company launched Instagram Stories a year ago and it helped it grow at a very fast pace. It now has 800 million monthly active users and 500 million daily active users. That’s a 100 million increase in monthly active users since April.
We can safely say that Instagram Stories helped the image sharing app to grow its user base at this speed. Because it urges people to open the app on daily basis or the stories will go away after 24 hours. Instagram also killed Snapchat’s growth as it could only add 30 million new users since last year. Snapchat has 173 million daily active users which is nothing in comparison to Instagram.
Instagram Stories got a head start with Instagram’s already established user base and people started to use it more often. Now people prefer to use stories on Instagram instead of opening a separate app for just the stories feature.
