The National Cyber Emergency Response Team has launched the Junior Cyber Defender Programme, targeting children aged between 7 and 14 years.
The initiative introduces cyber security education at an early age, teaching participants how to protect personal information and identify potential online risks effectively.
The programme also covers the safe use of social media platforms and responsible online gaming principles, preparing children to navigate the digital world cautiously.
Officials confirmed that children who successfully complete the programme will receive an official certificate issued directly by the National Cyber Emergency Response Team.
Safety App Launched
In another development, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority launched the NextGen Safety App, a digital platform designed to enhance safety, wellbeing, and support services for young people.
Introduced under CM Maryam Nawaz’s youth-focused initiatives, the application offers emergency assistance, professional guidance, and safety services through one platform for users.
According to PSCA, users can quickly seek help during emergencies and access essential support services directly through their smartphones with greater ease and efficiency today.
The authority said the initiative reflects wider efforts to use technology for improving public safety and expanding access to assistance, guidance, and protection for youth.
Available on Android and iOS, the NextGen Safety App aims to ensure young people can obtain timely support, safety, and guidance whenever needed across Punjab.
