The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority (KPRA) has warned taxpayers and business owners against fraudsters who are impersonating its officers to obtain money and sensitive information.
In a statement, KPRA said the authority had received complaints that unidentified individuals were contacting taxpayers and members of the business community while posing as KPRA officials.
The spokesperson advised taxpayers and businesses to be cautious of anyone using the name of the authority.
The identity of any such person and their link to KPRA must be verified through official sources, the spokesperson said, adding that money or sensitive information should not be handed over to any suspicious person without prior verification.
The authority said strict legal action would be taken against those who misuse the KPRA name or pose as its officers.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call, message or other communication has been asked to report it immediately through the official WhatsApp number or other official channels of KPRA.
