Spotify is expanding its audiobook service to more markets around the world. The company says audiobooks will reach more than 180 markets by the end of 2026. Audiobooks are currently available on Spotify in 22 markets. The wider rollout will give Spotify’s 750 million users access to audiobooks across more regions.
Users in the new markets will get access to more than 350,000 audiobook titles. The catalog will cover more than 120 languages, including Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Polish. Spotify will offer audiobooks through three different options in these markets. These include audiobooks within Premium plans, Audiobooks+, and direct purchases.
The company has also shared an image showing the markets where its audiobook service will be available by the end of 2026.
The company also says its partnerships with authors will remain non-exclusive. This means authors will not be required to make their audiobooks exclusive to Spotify. Starting in November, Spotify will expand Audiobooks+ for Student plan users in Ireland, Belgium, Austria, and Finland. The option lets users add extra audiobook listening hours.
Audiobooks+ now has more than one million subscribers. Spotify says the service has also passed $100 million in annual recurring revenue. Spotify is also improving how users switch between print, e-books, and audiobooks. The company introduced Page Match in February to make this transition easier.
More than one million readers have used Page Match so far. The feature lets users move between reading formats without losing their place. Now, Spotify is adding support for page numbers to Page Match. Users can scan a book’s ISBN barcode and then use page numbers to find their place.
