Pakistan private airline South Air will launch its scheduled domestic flight operations on July 16, 2026, marking a fresh addition to the country private aviation sector.
The carrier will initially connect Karachi, Islamabad and Bahawalpur, with new scheduled services also introduced from Karachi to Gwadar, Sukkur and Rahim Yar Khan.
The airline said the expansion is aimed at strengthening air connectivity across different regions of the country, promoting regional development and offering passengers safe, reliable and quality travel services.
Operations will begin with modern ATR 72-600 aircraft, widely regarded for fuel efficiency, strong performance and compliance with international safety standards on short and medium-haul routes. Officials said the new routes are expected to boost business activity, tourism, education and regional connectivity.
Chief Executive Officer of South Air, Nishat Fatima, said the launch of the airline represents a national effort to strengthen air connectivity rather than simply the addition of another carrier.
She said the company aim is to provide every passenger with safe, timely and high-quality travel while linking regions that have so far had limited access to air services.
She added that the company plans to expand its fleet and route network in the near future to extend modern and reliable air services to more cities across the country.
To support cooperation in tourism and hospitality, South Air has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Dream World Destination Hotels and Golf Course.
Under the agreement, the two sides will develop joint travel packages, offer special discounted deals and undertake initiatives to promote tourism, with the aim of enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers.
Airline management said international safety standards, punctuality, customer service, operational transparency and professional standards will remain top priorities across all operations.
Aviation experts said the entry of South Air is likely to encourage healthy competition within the Pakistan aviation industry, strengthen regional air connectivity and generate positive effects for trade, investment, tourism and the national economy.
South Air has asked passengers to stay in contact with official airline channels for the latest updates on schedules, fares and bookings ahead of the start of flights on July 16.
