The OnePlus 16 is still months away from its official launch. However, early leaks are already shaping expectations for the device. New details now point to major upgrades in performance and display technology.
According to the information on Weibo, the OnePlus 16 will run on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro SoC, also identified as SM8975. This chip has not been announced yet, but it is expected to power next-generation flagship phones.
The leak also highlights key details about the display. The OnePlus 16 is said to feature a custom 6.78-inch LTPO BOE panel with 1.5K resolution. The screen will be surrounded by extremely thin bezels on all sides, measuring around 1mm.
In terms of performance, the display will support a minimum refresh rate of 185Hz. OnePlus is also targeting a peak refresh rate of 240Hz. In addition, the panel may include a custom touch-control IC for improved responsiveness. It could also support the BT.2020 color gamut, improving color accuracy.
Earlier reports suggest strong camera upgrades as well. The OnePlus 16 is expected to carry two 200MP cameras. These include a primary sensor and a periscope telephoto lens. If true, this would mark a major leap in mobile photography for the brand.
Battery capacity is also rumored to be significantly larger. The phone may pack a 9,000 mAh battery. It is expected to support 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. This combination could offer faster top-ups and longer usage times.
