September is shaping up to be a busy month for smartphone launches in China. A new leak now suggests that both OnePlus and iQOO will unveil their next flagship phones during the same month.
According to the source on Weibo, the upcoming OnePlus 16 and iQOO 16 are expected to launch in September. Last year, both brands introduced their previous models, the OnePlus 15 and iQOO 15, in October in China. The earlier launch timeline hints at growing competition among smartphone makers in the premium segment.
Several major brands are reportedly preparing flagship launches for September. Earlier reports already suggested that Xiaomi, Oppo, and vivo would introduce their next high-end smartphone series during the month. Now, OnePlus and iQOO appear ready to join the crowded launch schedule as well.
While the Chinese launch could happen in September, global users may need to wait longer. OnePlus and iQOO usually take a few weeks before bringing their flagship devices to international markets. Because of that, late October currently seems like the earliest possible timeframe for a wider release. However, some markets may receive the phones even later.
At the moment, details about both smartphones remain limited. Recent rumors surrounding the OnePlus 16 have created confusion about its camera setup. Different reports continue to suggest conflicting information, making it difficult to confirm the final hardware.
Meanwhile, the iQOO 16 is still largely under wraps. So far, reports only indicate that the device is currently in development. Leaks also suggest that the smartphone will carry a premium price tag, similar to the upcoming OnePlus 16.
With several Android brands expected to launch flagship devices within weeks of each other, September could become one of the busiest months of the year for the smartphone industry.
