Pakistan Single Window (PSW) has achieved a major international milestone by winning the prestigious Asia-Pacific Trade Facilitation Innovation Award 2026, recognizing the country’s efforts in digital transformation and trade modernization.
The award was presented during Paperless Trade Week 2026 in Bangkok, a global forum jointly organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) under the theme, “Next Generation Trade Digitalization Advancing Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation.”
The award was received by PSW Chief Executive Officer Syed Aftab Haider on behalf of Pakistan. The recognition highlights Pakistan Single Window’s contribution to strengthening the country’s digital trade ecosystem, improving regulatory efficiency, and supporting economic modernization.
PSW earned the award for the successful development and implementation of its Integrated Risk Management System (IRMS), an advanced digital platform that has transformed border clearance procedures. The system uses automated risk-scoring models, predefined regulatory rules, and artificial intelligence-driven analytics to assess trade declarations and assign consignments to appropriate clearance channels without human intervention.
By identifying high-risk consignments for detailed inspections while allowing low-risk shipments to move more efficiently, the IRMS reduces delays, improves regulatory oversight, and enhances trade facilitation for compliant businesses.
Speaking on the achievement, Syed Aftab Haider described the award as a proud moment for Pakistan’s public and technology sectors. He said the recognition reflects the team’s commitment to transforming cross-border trade through digital innovation and establishing Pakistan as a contributor to global best practices in trade facilitation.
Unlike conventional risk management systems, the IRMS operates under the legal framework of the Pakistan Single Window Act, 2021, with officially notified regulations ensuring a uniform and transparent approach across all cross-border regulatory agencies.
During Paperless Trade Week, Pakistan Single Window also showcased its digital trade solutions at a dedicated exhibition pavilion, where international delegates were briefed on the organization’s efforts to reduce paper-based processes and modernize trade operations.
The award further strengthens Pakistan Single Window’s position as a key driver of trade digitalization in Pakistan. Through technology-driven initiatives such as the IRMS, the organization continues to support ease of doing business, improve operational efficiency, strengthen regulatory coordination, and promote a transparent and digitally connected trade environment.
The achievement is being viewed as an important step in Pakistan’s journey toward building a modern, technology-enabled economy and enhancing its competitiveness in global trade.
