PITB to start awareness campaign on IT-based services in Pakistan

Punjab Chief Secretary Yousuf Naseem Khokhar has directed the PITB Chairman Azfar Manzoor to initiate an awareness campaign on the IT-based services including call centre and e-libraries being provided to the people of Pakistan. He also directed the authorities to bring improvement in the IT systems being used for monitoring of price control and police stations in the districts.

The chief secretary in a meeting to review the performance of Punjab Information Board (PITB) at Arfa Tower on Thursday said that the information technology is the key to rapid growth and the performance of government departments will improve through the use of IT. The federal government is also working to bring the e-offices system in the country to ensure efficiency, accuracy, good governance in the country.

Yousaf Naseem Khokhar stated that the use of information technology (IT) is essential and the provincial government would take necessary steps to promote e-governance and improve public service delivery in the country.

He visited various sections of the Arfa Software Technology Park including data centre, call centre, and E-Khidmat section. He also interacted with the visitors and asked them about the performance of the services being provided there.

PITB chairman Azfar Manzoor briefed the secretary about different IT projects launched in the province and ensured that the PITB is successfully implementing these IT projects in the fields of education, health, law & order, transport among others. Azhar Manzoor said that PITB is also helping other provinces to implement these IT projects in their systems.
