With online terrorism, fake profiles, blasphemy on social media and other cyber crimes on the rise, it has become necessary for us to become the responsible citizens and report such crimes to FIA Cyber Crime Wing.

National Response Center for Cyber Crime (NR3C), is the latest introduction to mandate of the FIA, primarily to deal with technology based crimes in Pakistan. It is the only unit of its kind in the country and in addition to the directly received complaints also assists other law enforcement agencies in their own cases. NR3C defines Cyber Crime as,

“Any activity commissioned via computer, digital devices and networks used in the cyber realm, and is facilitated through the internet medium. It can include the distant theft of information belonging to an individual, government or corporate sector through criminal tress-passing into unauthorized remote systems around the world. It includes from stealing millions of rupees from online bank to harassing and stalking cyber users.”

Just recently, Mashal Khan, a student from Mardan was killed for allegedly posting blasphemous content on social media. It was reported later that the posts were being shared from a fake Facebook profile. Also, Interior Ministry has been working for the past couple of months in order to curb online blasphemy.

There are two ways to report a fake profile. You can either report it directly to Facebook or you can also report to FIA Cyber Crime Unit.

Report to Facebook

For reporting a fake profile to Facebook, open the profile and click on the top right button. You can then select “Report” option from the menu. Facebook will then prompt you to select from a number of reasons that why you want to block/report that particular person.
