Robotics academy STEMMERS (previously known as STEMERS) has raised funds from a private investor Muhammad Rashid to accelerate its growth. The funds will be spent on increasing the number of students aiming for higher education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
The MoU signing ceremony happened yesterday at the IBA Institute in presence of Dr. Shahid Qureshi and the Center for Entrepreneurial Development Team.
STEMMERS is an academy which provides training to grade 5 and above students to provide science, technology, engineering, and math education in order to produce tech-savvy future leaders in Pakistan. They offer basic, intermediate and advanced level courses in which students have the opportunity and resources to learn cutting edge technologies in robotics, programming, 3D printing and even game development.
A STEMM based curriculum equip students with the skills they need for work in in-demand fields, encourages problem-solving and teaches students that there might be multiple ways to reach an outcome. It cultivates teamwork and even encourages students to fail as part of a learning process. It also exposes students to emerging technology, like Robotics, programming and 3-D printing which have the potential to revolutionize our world.
The aim of Stemmers is to launch a three-year Certification program which will eventually lead to introduce “Citizen Sciences” concept in Pakistan.
