Samsung adds home screen rotation update to Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8

Bringing exciting new features of new flagships to older ones seems like a good business trick for Samsung. After adding the video lock-screen option of Galaxy S9 variants to Galaxy S8s and Note 8, now Samsung is adding another feature in the last year’s flagships. Apparently, the Samsung Experience Launcher is bringing the rotate home screen feature to the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8.

Previously, the feature was only there for Galaxy S9 variants but now Samsung has made it available in three more smartphones. Home screen rotation means that a user will be able to turn on the landscape mode of the device even while scrolling apps on device’s home screen just by rotating it to one side. This makes it convenient for users to watch movies, play games and get back to landscape mode easily even when they’re on the phone’s home screen.

Samsung is said to be updating all Galaxy S8/S8+ and Note 8 units in coming days as part of a staged rollout. However, some users have already tried it and it’s working fine for them. There’s a chance that your device may have already received the update if you are running the latest version of Samsung Experience Launcher.

In case you want to check whether you have received this update or not, head straight to your phone’s Setting → Home Screen settings. You will see a “Portrait mode only” option toggle it either on or off. Choose your desired option as per your convenience. You must turn on screen rotation if you want your home screen to rotate to landscape view.
