Pakistan has made a police character certificate mandatory for all citizens applying for United Arab Emirates (UAE) work visas, effective from July 20, according to the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment Islamabad.
The UAE government has introduced the requirement for all Pakistani nationals seeking employment visas as part of a new screening policy. The measure applies to millions of Pakistanis currently working in the UAE as well as those planning to travel there for jobs.
Under the new rule, applicants must obtain a good conduct certificate from the relevant authority in Pakistan before submitting their visa application. The certificate must then be attested by the UAE embassy in Pakistan.
The Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment has advised all prospective applicants to complete this verification process in advance. Officials said obtaining the certificate before filing the visa application would help prevent delays or complications during processing.
The UAE remains one of the largest destinations for Pakistani workers, with millions currently employed there across various sectors. A significant number of Pakistanis continue to seek employment opportunities in the country each year.
